Her father’s name is Bob Barlow, a hockey player who played in many National Hockey League tournaments and is a member of the Minnesota North Stars team. His mother’s name is Marilyn, and she is a housewife. Wendy has two siblings: one brother, Hugh Barlow, and one sister, Lori Barlow. Since childhood, Wendy has been interested in tennis because she was born and brought up in a sports background family.

In 1979, she participated in the Dallas Women Professional Tournaments but unfortunately lost to Chris Evert. 

In 1980, Wendy won the Canadian National Championship, and in 1987, she was appointed captain of the Canadian Federation Cup team. Wendy also played in the Federation Cup matches in Canada, and in 1978, she was named the female athlete of the year 1978.
