He may be the single child in his family. He spent his early life both in the United States and Singapore. From 1989 to 1994, Rony lived in Manchester, Hampshire, along with his family members. In his teenage, he lived in Singapore Sea Scout, in Johor Bahru, along with his family members. Rony has been interested in acting from a young age, and also, in his teenage, he attended many auditions for acting.


Hannah Pham is an Australian with roots in Vietnam, and she and Ronny tied the knot in 2016. Ronny claims that they have been married three times in the United States, Australia, and Malaysia. Both of them as a couple are quite adorable, and it is wished that they remain the same way.


Born and brought up in Singapore and the United States, Chieng attended educational institutes in Singapore and Australia. In 2018, Rony got to act in the film Crazy Rich Asians as Edison Cheng. From 2021 to 2022, he acted in the television series Young Rock as Greg Yao, and from 2021, he is acting in the television series    Doogie Kameāloha, M.D. as Dr Lee. He worked as a voice artist for the character in the television series Aunty Donna’s Big Ol’ House of Fun in 2020, Ten Year Old Tom in 2021, and Mulligan in 2023. In 2023, he acted in the television series History of the World, Part II as Kublai Khan, and the same year, Rony acted as Ji Gong in the series American Born Chinese.
